President Elect Fred ran the meeting for President Cheryl.

Razia has been on a whirlwind tour of the country speaking about the Zabuli Education Center including speaking to 5,000 cadets at the Air Force Academy in Denver Colorado.  She told us that the third floor with eight new classrooms has been finished and that there are now 470 girls attending with classes up to the 11th grade.  She is pleased that the school has a competent administration including an executive Director and eighteen teachers.  On March 23, the school will have been open for seven years.  At a site near the school, she is planning an institute to train new teachers, possibly including some of her current students when they graduate.  Razia will be involved with more fundraising including a reception in Boston, a dinner with Khald Hosseini, the author of the Kite Runner and a benefit with Sharon Rotary on March 19, 7:00 PM at the Sharon Middle School, 75 Mountain St, Sharon MA.

Fred reports that the club has received the matching grant from the District for the Island Creek Oyster Tilapia farm in Haiti.

Take a look at the work that Fred is doing in updating our club “website” (secret word).

Now is the time to suggest a volunteer to honor in our community with the Community Service Award to be given out at the District Conference in Newport in May.  Fred would like to include student volunteers.
