DUXBURY ROTARY CLUB
September 13, 2017 for the meeting of Sept. 20

Jim Middleton spoke about Habitat’s Veterans Build in Plymouth and, looking to the future, possibly a home in Duxbury.  Members of the Lyons Club and the Legion joined us to learn more about the how we can assist in building the 1300 square foot cape style single story homes which are designed  with three to four bedrooms for a family with two to four kids.  Three houses are planned in Plymouth, two for Veterans and one for low income.  They now have land off of Long Pond Road but because of delays, they are not ready for our help.  Fourteen Rotarians have signed up to help with the construction and to each contribute $100.00 to the cause.  Participants do not have to have particular skills.  There is need for people who, for example, can help serve food.

Steve and Bruce have suggested some Fun events which includes the beach party see below, a walk in the woods with Joe Grady, a bowling event, a tour of the Bradford House and a wine tasting.

Hurricane assistance in Texas and Florida was discussed.  See the second list of suggested ways to help in the emails sent out by the District Governor.  It was suggested to wait to provide assistance until things settle down to see exactly what the people really need.

Steve and Cheryl have volunteered to coordinate the placemat fundraiser.
