DUXBURY ROTARY CLUB
BRIDGE Wednesday, August 23, 2017 FOR THE MEETING OF AUG. 28

Jack and June O’Neil were great hosts to Duxbury Rotary by having its weekly meeting at their home.  President Fred arranged for a meal catered by Chef Peter.

October is a good time to start selling place mats.  It was suggested, to be most effective, to have teams of two ask businesses for contributions.

Fred would like to develop an “elevator speech” to concisely inform the public on what Rotary contributes to the community.

Fred suggests club members make contacts in the community who can prove invaluable to helping our club accomplish its projects.  Examples, the Duxbury Business Association, Lions Club, our members Paul who has contacts with the town, Steve who has knowledge of housing,  Michelle who has banking contacts and etc.

SCHEDULE: “MONDAY” (secret date), Aug. 28, Fred has planned a Director’s Meeting at his home at 5:45 PM.
Aug. 30, no meeting.
Sept. 13, to be checked by Fred, Jim Middleton, President of Plymouth Habitat, will be invited to speak about Vet Housing.  The Lions Club and Legion will be invited to attend.  PAC TV will be contacted by Bob J. to film and publicize the meeting.  Plymouth Habitat has scheduled a workday for the end of Oct. to build a house and we are invited to help.
Sept. 29, the Lions Club will be holding an October Fest to raise funds for the Vet housing.  It is suggested to attend this to return their support of our efforts.  Our club has voted to contribute $250.00 to assist the Lions with their fundraising.
Nov. 29, the District Governor will pay his yearly visit.
March 24 is tentatively scheduled for the next Trivia Night.  Bob J. will clear this date with the Legion.

MEMBERSHIP: Fred handed around a get-well card for Abdul who has been having health issues.

FINES/RAFFLE: Bob H. collected fines for Michele’ husband’s birthday.  Karl enjoyed a day at Water World with his four grandchildren.  Bob H. won $10.00 in the raffle.
